    Another B-J All Original Fake

I found this "original unmolested, low mile" '71 LT-1 on the B-J website. He is very proud of his factory "air conditioning".

HMMMM, who is he trying to kid? No air until '72. Oh, well. Nice try.

Does it count that he puts "air conditioning" after the word factory. I guess the quote marks is like crossing your fingers when trading baseball cards when you are 10?

And LT-1 was not available with automatics, ever, in the 70-72 vintage. so this is a super-rare! LT-1 with a/c and auto!!!!!

Note that the description admits it has been "upgraded" to LT-1 status. Nowhere does it state that it is/was originally an LT-1. It may have the "numbers matching" block, and the block may be original to the car, but the description does not mention the car's original configuration.

So, I'm not sure what's so strange about a guy with an auto/AC car wanting an LT-1, making it by changing carb and intake (if in fact that was done - there are no engine pictures), and later selling it at Barrett-Jackson. I wouldn't call it "umolested" but I've seen far worse stuff pawned off as "completely" original.

What about the famous "CJK" cars that were around in the 80's and heavily discussed? Remember that this engine code (CJK) IS listed in many engine code books as a LT-1 engine with automatic transmission for 1971 Corvettes.

The owner "may" not be that informed about Corvettes and the fact that "CJK" is just another code for a low horsepower automatic 1971 Vette and they truly believe it is an LT1 car.

Think about this before you cast stones at the seller and Barrett Jackson!!!

How can someone claim the car is "original unmolested" by supposedly upgrading the hp to 330, installing a big block hood with LT-1 striping and decals, not trying to misrepresent the true original configuration of the car?

Sorry but not in the "know" on these cars I would assume its an LT 1 from its listing as "motor LT 1" and the photos of the hood. I know i should not assume and if I was in the market for one I would learn an alfull lot about the car I was buying prior to bidding on it. But to an average buyer i am sure he also would assume this is a LT 1 with low production number.

I am not sure if it was on this web site or not but last year some one had posted a letter or a disclaimer from B-J noting they DO NOT authenticate cars they only inspect there quaility. Prior to seeing this letter or disclaimer i had allways thought what ever was sold at B-J was the real deal.

You've read descriptions on eBay, right?
And you're still asking this question?

Remember, the owner doesn't necessarily write what you read as their description. And, the car has even been repainted. Look at the side grilles. No chrome edging visible.

Descriptions mean nothing. I still stand by my original comment, that he's not misrepresenting it by admitting it's been upgraded to LT-1 specs. When was the last time you saw a 435hp 67 admit that???
