    78 Silver Anniversery

My Uncle just looked at a 1978 Silver Anniversery Corvette for sale. It has 123 original miles (not 123,000 - 123 miles!!). The car has the optional L82 engine, 4-speed close ratio transmission and most options including AM/FM radio with CB. I'm not sure, however, if the suspension is Gymkhana or standard. The car is completely original, including tires and drives perfect (my uncle drove two of the 123 miles). Can anyone give me a ballpark on the market value of this car?

Funny you should mention this. I think there is a similar car (not sure of the options, just very few miles) for sale somewhere on the internet for $100+k, That's $100 not $10! A dealer in the midwest has a very low mileage pace car for sale at $29.9k (a bit more realistic). A pacecar with about 800 miles (again I am not sure of the options) was a nosale at the Atlantic City at $26k. So my guess would be between $25 - 30. I don't think there are too many collectors out there willing to pay huge$$ for the low miles. If so, your father cost the seller a few grand by adding 2 miles to the odometer! MJ

        Ed,

As always prices are subjective. Checking a quick reference price guide, a trailer queen 78 Silver Anniversary with an L82 ballparks around $18,500. I wouldn't necessarily compare it's value to the 78 Pace Car though, which is about 1/3 more. TBarr #24014

Ed --- These "almost never driven" Silver Annies and Pace Cars are not as rare as (say) earlier, or even later, than the 1978 model year. Everyone was buying and storing these puppies, to pay for their retirement, child's education, etc. You could fill Yankee Stadium with them, today. So the rarity of the low miles pales in comparison to the original condition, and it should be evaluated thusly.

            Hi Ed:

For years white has been one of the most popular Corvette colors chosen, a quick glance at the Corvette Black Book shows that the Silver Anniversary color scheme sold 15,283 units, outselling the second most popular color scheme that year, Pace Car , (6,502) by a healthy margin and when compared to the ever popular, white, (4,150), there are a bunch of Silver Anniversaries out there.
