Believe it or not, GM and/or Winters Foundry often did this sort of stamping on original manifolds. I don't know all of the reasons for it, but it did occur. I've not seen it on this, particular, manifold but that's not surprising as I have not really paid that much attention to these C1 manifolds, anyway.
