Future of GM and New Camaro

I guess by now most have seen the new Camaro. At least it has some styling cues from the '69 they are saying it looks like.

But this orange one I like a bit better. it has more '69 Camaro look to it. The silver concept one from the GM show looks, dare I say it, to have more in common with the 2006 Mustang than the 1969 Camaro.

I guess Corvette has nothing to fear, unless those stylists get ahold of Corvette again.

I haven't seen this version before, but it certainly is a better looking concept than either the silver or red image one. If they go with either of those, I certainly won't be waiting in line for one.

Isn't that the Knight Rider Firebird?

I think it was painted black when it was in the TV show.

The Orange one was drawn by a 19 year-old design student named Kris Horton...he doesn't work for GM...obviously

The sad part is that they could bring out a simple car, put a decent set of lines on it, put a big engine in front, and sell them cheap and by the truckloads.

Instead, they will screw up the lines, stuff 1000 options into it, bury the engine to where you can't see it, and wonder why no one can afford the $50,000 price tag (or wants to).

The Camaro was more than just looks, it was a concept, and GM has lost what that concept was.

They'd do well to graft his grille onto their concept. The front just doesn't say "Camaro" to me.

I/we own a 69 Z28 and a 65 Hipo Mustang. I might stand in line for a new Mustang but just drive by the Chevy dealer based upon the looks.

The orange rendering was done by a well-known independent designer about two years ago, along with two other versions; too bad GM didn't take some cues from his efforts (or hire him and use his design in total).

The sad news is that our Chevy dealer has told us the Camaro has been cancelled. Besides, by the time they brought it out in 09, Chevy would be a day late and a dollar short again. (Well actually probably several dollars too much, just like the SSR)

So I know some people dont feel this way,but to me a neet car is a neet car, Ford has came out with this new Mustang, they are priced below $30,000.00 with it.And depending on what option you chose its way below 30 .

How do I know this? Well I feel in love with the looks and went to a dealer to see if I could get one to replace the wifes C5 (2 seater with the mustang(4 seater) and only found out the demand was higher then what they could produce. Needless to say I have not purchased one yet.

But my reason for shairing all of this information is if GM could get this at a price point where it is competing with the mustang again I think they would be selling alot more cars.

I agree, I own a 69 SS 396 X-22. If GM had gone the route of the new Mustang, the Camaro would fly out the door. Why they refuse to see what Ford has achieved is beyond me. Was'nt the 67 Camaro an answer to the 65 Mustang and trying to capitalize on that market?

I think GM has to decide if it wants to sell lots of cars or spend a lot of money making a few high priced cars that won't justify the expense, or sell.
They need to make nice cars that can be nicely equiped and sell for the mid $20's. I think a new Camaro could be the car if they would not try so hard to deviate from the original body shape. I think that is the success that Ford is having with the Mustang.

It's going to be delayed 2 to 3 years

While they figure out how to mount the flat, stake-bodied box on it.
