C1: Stupid question of the day

I know I'm going to sound like a real idiot on this one, but I can't figure out how to set the presets on the Wonderbar!

I've had the car for about 6 months now, and have used the radio often, but I never tried to set the channels. I always figured it was real easy, but when I finally got around to trying, I couldn't do it. And there are no intructions on setting the presets in the manual.

How do you set the buttons?

    Dave,
To preset the push button, preset the station you want with the manuel tuner. Pull the push button that you want to preset out and push in. Happy tuning.

Thanks. I had tried that, but the button didn't want to pull out. I didn't want to pull too hard for fear of breaking the radio. I will try again with more force.

I don't think the buttons pull straight out. If I recall you have to move the button to the right to release it to be able to pull all the way out.
Someone else can chime in if my memory has failed.

That`s correct. You have to pull to the right of the wide axis or with the radio mounted, it would be in the up direction, and out at the same time. Sometimes they can be a little difficult. Once you get the button out, spray a shot of tuner cleaner in the opening. That should make it easier to reset the next time.

The instructions that came with your car when new state - Pull button out as far as it will go, tune to desired station, push selected button to its maximum "in" position in order to lock it.

Pull the button straight out. Don't pull it at any angle.

              Question of the day redux

I dunno about YOUR Wonderbar, but on MINE there is a little trapdoor along the bottom edge of the dial, with a thumbnail groove in the center. You lever the door down, and there are 5 red tabs which you slide to the location of the stations you want. Pulling the buttons out on this radio would be an expensive mistake. FYI- This is the ORIGINAL radio in my '55.

Thanks for the help. I'm Rockin' and Rollin' now! (In mono of course.)

Re: Question of the day redux

I guess the original post should have stated the year. The instructions I quoted are for 58-62 Wonderbars like the ORIGINAL radio in my 60.

Did they make Corvettes prior to 1956?

                    -Dave

                    just kidding of course.
