Looked like a C8 to me. Notice the 3 in the body number. S would be the 18th month. I doubt that happened in the '66 run.

One thing I did notice was that in '67, the number was letter, four numbers, i.e., S0123. This one didn't use a leading 0 so maybe '66 was different? I can't find any other '66 examples right now.

I didn't think bb with ti ignition had ballast resistors. I just seems to me that hallmark that distinguishes a bb is new on this car.

Just found something else

For 425hp cars ti ignition was required, not an option. This car doesn't have ti. In pic of the voltage regulator you can see that there is no ti wiring harness running along the fender well. THat is why the ballast resistor is there. I bet if we could see pics of the passenger side fender well, there would be holes, not divets, where the surge tank was.

Back when I could find a corvette in a junk yard, which has been a while. A good portion of themthat I saw were heavily front end damaged or burned to the ground or both. They have a slight reputation for catching on fire. That may have started with the early one's and the side draft carbs. Once fiberglass (resin I should say) catches on fire, it is like trying to put out a tire. Take care, Terry

Real or Fake?This one's really picky

Among all the questionable stuff on the car noted, here's one more.

The finger hole for the rear storage cover is on the wrong side of the car and doesn't have the finger hole bezel. Doesn't look like the hole was ever punched through the carpet.

As far as the wrong side goes, I did the same thing, but my interior judge missed it (sorry Glorie ) But I'm gonna correct it for the next time around.

Geez, I love this forum, you guys really get right down to it.

All original passenger side inner fenders had the four holes for the expansion tank bracket rivets pre-drilled by the molder/supplier, and they were filled with bond material at St. Louis and A.O. Smith on BB cars.
