Who do you trust? Clock repair

Finally, I got the clock out of my 69. I'd like to have the movement replaced with a mechanical movement. Who do you trust and recommend to perform this service?

    Thanks!

I used "The Clock Works" out of Wisconsin for my 66. I went with the NOS Borg mechanism. It looks like they still have NOS for the 68-80 cars. I was pleased with their overall service. Good communication and turnaround time.

I ended up just buying a new clock from Instrument Services, Inc in Roscoe, IL. They will repair, but also sell an exact one at $89.

I had tried to repair my original, but after it died on the way to the judging field before Ops I gave up on that idea.

I second that. Roger Scott has done all my instruments at a very fair price with decent turn-around time. As an example, my original '67 clock only needed cleaning and lubricating ... has run ever since with no problems. That was 11 years ago! Kent #6201

I'll second Clockworks. Jerry has done several for me and does a great job. As mentioned he has the NOS movements and I think the are in the $60 range.

              Re: Clock Repair

I had the clock cleaned and repaired for my '66 at Corvette Specialities in Maryland. A year later while traveling down the road the bezel fell off! That was right before 2005 Corvettes @ Carlisle so I took it to him and he wanted to charge me to fix it. I stopped by Corvette Clocks by Roger and he looked at it and he showed me the workmanship done and why I had the problem. I later sent it to him and he put back to original ( took the quartz out). Turn around time was about 4 weeks. Received it from Roger, put it in and it ran for 45 seconds and quit. Called him and sent it back, supposed to have repaired it. Just got it back and haven't put it in yet. Hope it works. if not I'll have to change shops again. Glad to hear of another reliable shop. Thanks

I used Roger Scott for the speedo and clock for my 56 and I'm convinced the only instrument he can handle is his own

I've repaired the clocks in my '54 and '78. There not that complicated. On the '54 I just disassembled and cleaned it. For the '78 I purchased a repair kit from CC. Both are now happily ticking away.

                    Re: Clock Repair

I had Roger restore my gauges and clock this winter for my 66. After spending a lot of money I was highly disappointed. The back of the instrument cluster came back dirty, there was a small nick inside the speedo on the face, oil gauage was not set to read zero with engine off and worn rubber grommets where not replace. Roger blamed his assistance and said ship it back. Sending the cluster across country twice was not in the game plan.

Apparently there is no attention to detail or quality control.

I had my clock cleaned by Corvette Clocks by Rodger and it worked for about 6 mos. I told hom about it and his comment was that was about all you could expect. So I feel like I got my clock cleaned twice. I have only heard good things about the outfit in Wisconsin.

                      Good Luck
