55 VETTE W/3SP & OD

I cant find my article but it seems to me i read in one of Nolan Adams books about 1 or 2 55 vettes being equipped with 3sp manual and overdrive. ANYONE ELSE ?----THANKS

Few 55's were standard shift but all that were 3 speeds were not overdriven. only the 55 up chevy pass cars could be ordered with a 3 speed overdrive. mike

if one were to install a 3 speed od tranny in a c-1 vette, they'd face tight quarters with the OD solenoid and X-memeber clearances, not to mention attaching the 3 speed shifter to the od tail housing. mike

Had an original 3-spd/OD trans in the '56 210 Delray "Power-Pack" 2-dr. post I had when I was in college; after tearing up three O/D units, put a T-10 in it. Wasn't much good on the highway going home on weekends with the 4.11 in it, but it launched like gangbusters
