    Tire dollies

I am considering a set of auto (tire) dollies for my 72 for winter storage. I am looking at Eastwood's product:

Does anyone have experience with these or is willing to recommend a different set? I am trying to maximize my storage and this seems like the way to go.

    Thank you in advance.

Those dollies are junk. Get the ones shaped like a half moon and cradle the tire. They are sold at menards. E mail me and I will send pics. I have six of my vettes on cradles and love them.

Curtis, Does your tire dollies have the composit wheel's or are they cast iron?
I have a set of 4 I purchased from Harbor Freight for $39 for 2 dollies and
they have cast iron wheels which are very hard to move around in my shop by
myself. I was wondering if the composit wheels roll much easier.

I have composit wheels and they are hard to move. A good lube job helps for awhile.

Floyd, my wheels are composite and I can move the cars by myself fairly easy. Just make sure the wheels are facing the direction you are pushing.

I believe that the problem with the Harbor Freight wheels are that they don't have bearings in the axle of the wheel. Mine were easy to use at first, but then got very stiff. I am going to try to grease them up... I expect that will help.

Lyle, Curtis and Brandon Thanks for the information on the wheels.
I will grease them again and see if that helps. I wish I could find
some composit wheels, I think I would purchase them and replace the
cast iron wheels with the composit wheels.

              Thanks again guys

I had the steel wheeled units in the picture. Very hard to push and had to turn the wheels in the direction I wanted to go.

I since bought Car Skates brand and love them. I posted their link below.

I have a set of the Car Skates I bought about ten years ago, with 3" poly wheels and ball-bearing axles and casters, and you can move a car on them around with one hand.

I may have to try a set if the casters are good. I thought dollies were a good idea, so I bought 5 sets at the same time. They're the worst mess I ever made in my shop. The smallest grain of sand stops em dead (cast iron wheels) and they don't turn worth a crap. A buddy had a set with thin rubber rings on the wheels and they flat spotted after sitting in one spot for a while. If the brand pictured works better, it'd have to be because of a lot better casters.
