    power window

1978 Vette - need help: The drivers door power window will not go down. I have replaced the inside power window switch without success. When I hit the up side of the switch (window is already up) I see that it is getting power because of the amp meter reading but I get no reading when I hit the down side of the switch. Any suggestions on the next step?

    Re: power window

Starting with the switch, use your wiring diagram to check each connection working from the switch to the motor in the door, using a voltmeter or test light. Alternately, you can check for power at the motor when the switch is activated using the same tools. If there is no power at the motor with the switch activated, then you have to chase the wiring. If you have power at the motor then the problem is internal to the motor..
