    C2 1966 Body Checking Dimensions

I'm trying to verify some body dimensions after some panels were replaced. Looking at the Assembly Manual, everthing is pretty well spelled out. Except....all the horizontal, i.e. front to back, dimensions are referenced to an "F.O.D." location. Does anyone know what FOD stands for and what determines it's location on the body. Why is it where it is? Again the CAM has some pretty good grid pictures of what I'm talking about. Thanks for any help.

"F.O.D." in the GM Body Design Grid system refers to "Front of Dash" with the body set up to the design master grid locators on a GM surface plate to establish both the vertical and horizontal datum planes; don't recall exactly which surface on the firewall was the actual fore-aft "0" plane. That system was adapted by Chevrolet from the long-established Fisher Body design grid, as Fisher only supplied the body from the firewall back (until unitized bodies came into being).
