I finally have disassembled and checked the jets and metering rods of the AFB that sits atop the '63 340 shp in my car. BTW this carb was restored/rebuilt by one of the specialists often sited on this board. I discovered , after careful measurement, that the secondry jets were the same size as the primaries, .104, I don't have my shop manual with me at the moment, however I recall that the secondaries should be about .068. I believe the manual states that the metering rods should be .060 and .069, mine are close, but not exact. Having discovered this my initial goal was to find the correct size components. I checked Edelbrock and found their kits not to contain this combination of jets and rods and I havn't even looked into the springs yet. My questions are 1)should I be seeking exact replacement parts( and from whom) and 2)is there a combination of jets , rods and springs that may be better replacements? Thanks much.

Re: CARTER AFB
Duke, I am not able to access the car until the weekend , however the carb flange numbers denote the correct model for this car/engine combination. As I recall the numbers on the rods were no longer discernable, measurements were taken with a micrometer and the measurements of the jets was accomplished with a pin gauge and were as noted.- Top

Re: CARTER AFB
The 3461S jets are .104/.0689 and the rods are .060/.069. I have the numbers, but there's no point in me digging the data sheet out of the file unless you can read them.
The air bleeds and idle jets are part of the primary venturi cluster, and the secondary air bleed is in the secondary venturi cluster.
If the venturi clusters are different or the air bleeds are drilled out it could call for different jetting.
If you want to sort it out, getting all the numbers off the components would be helpful. Also, how does it run?
