    Cleaning Master Cylinder

Thanks for all the good suggestions in the prior string. I have one question left -- what should I use to clean the internals of the master cylinder? Thanks.

Denatured alcohol. You can purchase it at major hardware stores like Orchard Supply.

Use denatured alcohol to clean the m/cyl and all parts and thoroughly dry them. Don't use any kind of petroleum based solvent. Any residue left will attack the rubber parts, which are not formulated for compatability with petroleum based products. Lubricate the internal parts with brake fluid during assembly.
