I have a C3 whose headlights normally pop up and down fine (ie a couple of times over the last month sans problem). Today I replaced a headlight on one side and I started by pulling out the vacuum block switch inside the car to keep the lights up while I was working on them and car/lights were off. When I finished I reversed the process and started the car. Now I have one headlight that will not go down (this is the one on the opposite side that I did not touch!). All exterior hoses have been replaced previously and the lights were working fine after that. Are there any tests or a way to get the stubborn light down. I think if it would go down once it would "remember" how to close/open and might be fine since they are not used alot. The vacuum cannisters look to be in pretty good shape (32K) on a 73. Thanks!

Re: Headlight will not close C3
Jack H. thanks for the reply. I was thinking it was a more serious problem like a actuator can or sealing gromet etc.. I mean I did replace all the hoses less than 6 months ago. However your "I'd be looking for a loose vac line in the nose area of the car..." didn't seem like it could be possible since those dumb things went on all around pretty tight. But I said what the hey... I went out there just now with a flashlight and noticed the top hose off on the relay valve. It must have happened a couple of weeks ago when I was reconditioning the horn which is smack in the middle of all the hoses in the nose area. I hadn't had the lights up since then. Viola! Fixed. I have the Dr Build troubleshoot sheet but don't have a vacuum pump or patience (required tool) and was hoping it would be something simple. Regards.- Top
