    C2 registry- Good Job, Rob

    Rob

    I notice that the registry is now showing the number of cars which match your package of options. I take it that (0 cars) below the total percentage sold means that your car package of options was one of a kind for that year.

    Check it out guys:
    http://www.c2registry.org/index.php?job=Home

    To find out how your car stacks up, you have to register (which is very easy).

    This is great fun! Have a Heinken (no, a Rollin Rock) on me.

      I was looking at the new additions in the stamp pad section and followed the link to the barn find article.

      I missed my cars birthday but it's delivery date is coming up in Feb. When you get some extra time how about a place for each car to post pictures of paperwork? POP warranty book etc.

        Hi Kevin,

        Obviouslyyou could post them as car pictures but building a special list for them could be interesting as well. Things I currently consider to have a seperate listing (like the stamppads) are:

        * vin tags
        * trim tags (c2 only!)
        * build sheets (tank stickers)
        * POP's

        I would like to know other peoples opinion about how usefull it is (to study and compare these items) because that it one of the purposes of these sites...

        greetings,
        Rob.

          Rob, on 63's it has always been a debate as to what is an early car or component vs. a late car or component. An early part such as the gas lid was still around in April but some other early parts such as the frosted hub caps ended much earlier. It would be of interest if the folks listing their cars identified these items about their cars. This would help others with close VIN Sequence numbers to look and see if they are in the ball park.

          Cheers

            Hi Harry,

            Interesting suggestion. But that would mean that someone has to come up with a list of all the components (per model year) which changed during that model year (sometimes parts changed even more than once). If I had this list it wouldn't be a difficult thing to implement the possibility to select the early (, mid) or late model... Does such a list exists for the C1 and C2 models?

            greetings,
            Rob

              Re: C2 registry- Good Job, Rob

              I'm not sure a complete list exists. Some examples for a 63 are, hubcaps, radio (AM vs. AM/FM),outside mirror, gas lid, Master Cylinder (thumb or hex screw) for a power brake car, heater box, hood grills (when did they start to break off a stud to avoid radiator damage, carpet, dash pad texture and there are more. Many of these are in Noland's book, but can we get closer the actual VIN where the change occurred, maybe never depending how the line pulled parts.

              In the C2 registry there is an area for owner comments, this could be used as a free form area for the owner to describe early vs. late.

                In stead of trying to list EVERY part of a year Corvette early, mid, late, just list parts based on the parts that NCRS's JM is judging on ( only that part) and as the JM adds other areas (parts) then members can add that.

                  I think it would be VERY useful to have an area with VIN tags, trim tags, POPs, engine pads, and other items shown. Currently, a few select individuals have such collections (which we contributed to) and are currently making a bit of spare change off the rest of us by issuing "definitive" books on the subjects.

                  People argue that going public helps the ones making counterfeits but in reality, they already have enough to fake out most of us and they can (and do) buy the books that many of us pass on.

                  Going public simply provides that information to those who can't afford the books, can't find the books, don't know about the books, or whatever.

                    Harry,

                    I believe Noland's book said that they were switching gas lids around April, but that he was showing them into the mid 18000 VIN range (June). I've seen them on cars much later, nearly to 20000 (July), and on unrestored cars believed original a LONG time ago, not after everyone had all this "good" information of early/late and what is correct/uncorrect.

                      I can't find the page that tells how many cars mine is out of all made. I thought it was the query but that just send off email to all with that type of car.

                      BTW, I thought you should change that so you can do more than one option. As soon as I clicked on a different option, the previous one disappeared. For example, click on 300 hp then on power steering and then on AC. The only one is then AC.

                        Hi Mark,

                        Good suggestion about the multiple option selection. I'll pick this up during the next couple of weeks.

                        The nr. of cars build with your selected options for you car can be found at the Show Corvette page. In the table showing the options it is stated below under the percentage of cars build with the option combination (between brackets).

                        greetings,
                        Rob.

                          Re: C2 registry- Good Job, Rob

                          I've build already a form enabling to do your own survay on your car (see form for 1959 http://www.c1registry.com/index.php?...urvey&car_id=1) but then I decided not to add it to the registry since it could be seen as competition for the NCRS judging process and I didn't want to compete with our club. It could be something the NCRS could offer themselves...

                          greetings,
                          Rob.

                            I must be doing something wrong. I log in. I see:

                              Mark,

                              The option Show Corvette appears after adding your Vette to show the car overview page. It does a similar action as selecting a car from the Show Registry screen (by clicking the VIN).

                              greetings,
