    1953-1955 Steering wheel colors

I am working on restoring a 53-55 Steering wheel. This is a first for me as I normally only restore 56-62 wheels.
As I understand it 53-55 wheels all look the same as far as the shape and size. However, as I was looking at several 53-55 Corvettes, I saw that sometimes the wheel rim would be painted red while the center is white. On other cars I saw that the rim was white and the center was red? Does it depend on the year? Also, I just wanted to confirm the colors. I know that Polo White is the white. Which Red is correct though? Sportsman Red or Gypsy Red? Is sportsman red for 53 and 54 while Gypsy red if for 55?
I really need to be exact on all this as the wheel will have to be show quality in order for it to be put on a car. I can't stand seeing trashed out steering wheels on $50K+++++ Corvettes.
    Thanks for the help.

    Re: 1953-1955 Steering wheel colors

Tyson --- For 53-54, the wheel is Sportsman Red with Polo White center for cars with red interior. I believe it's the same for 55's but, hopefully, someone else will chime in on them. As for tan or green interior cars, I believe the steering wheel is painted to match. Check Noland Adams's book for more accurate answers.

      Well, my 1955

wheel looks like this. There are many photos in Noland Adams' book, which all show (in black and white) red center (to match the column) and white rim. In the color detail section, he also descibes red hub, with white rim.

Aside from the seats looking over stuffed, aren't they suppose to be dark beige? Is that an air conditioner hanging from the dash?
