    Spark Plug Shield Bolts

I am wondering what size and headmark bolt is used to hold on the spark plug heatshield that attaches to the block for a small block 67. My originals are long gone with most of the other shielding. I have purchased new shields but I could not find anyone offering the attaching bolts. Thank you

    Re: Spark Plug Shield Bolts

    Keith-----

My recollection is that these bolts are indented hex head with a captive, external tooth, star washer. They are 1/4"X 3/8", or so, and are of 1/4"-20 thread size with a zinc or cadmium plated finish. I believe that the head markings were GENERALLY "EL" or "L". These bolts are similar to the bolts used on oil pans and front timing covers and also similar to the bolts used for retention of the spark plug barrel shields on so-equipped big blocks. I believe that you can obtain similar, if not identical, bolts from Pioneer, the aftermarket engine miscellaneous parts supplier. Many auto stores carry these. Also, I think that Paragon carries these bolts although, perhaps, not specifically catalogued for this application.
