OH, THE INJUSTICE OF IT ALL!!

I can't believe that Dave's beautiful Z06, a REAL Corvette, went for a paltry $183K! Then, followed up by that Resto-Turd of a "57 for $275K!! Now if that isn't an ass backwards situation, I don't know what is! Is this the wave of the future, I hope not!!! Sorry, Dave.

Hopefully Dave is happy with his sale. I almost wanted to jump through my TV and make a bid. What a nice car.

Keith Martin has been saying the whole time that the resto-mod future is unknown, but real cars will always be coveted. I agree. Look at the customs which appear to be cooling and they have only been hot for a couple years.

I have a stock market background, and I find this whole thing fascinating. I love watching these auctions.

There will always be a market for the resto-rod, resto-mod. People really like the old cars, BUT, they also like the comforts of a new car. Look back at Hot Rod Magazine of the early '70s. There were many hot rods that were getting things like Cadillac interior features like power seats, tilt-tele wheels, climate-control dashes, and so on. A Model T or A rod is a neat thing to see, but if you remember those from long ago, and especially if you have ever made a trip in one, a few creature comforts really go a long way.

So enter the '57 Corvette. One of those timeless classics. But how many of you drove one to Nashville in 2003? Or to Bloomington or Carlisle last year? Who is driving one to Kissimmee next week?

But wouldn't you like to if it rode like your '96 Grand Sport or your C5 coupe?

And that is why they exist, because you can drive that classic car anywhere and enjoy the ride.

I just don't understand the prices. I mean, if you buy a project old Corvette for $20,000, have $20,000 cosmetic restoration, and then $10,000 in C4 or C5 donor parts and chassis, there is only $50,000 tied up in it. But most are going for much, much more than that.

Kind of odd though, I noticed that the left tail/brake lights didn't work when the car came to a stop at the bottom of the ramp.

I forgot, I was surprised also to hear that it only went for $183,000. With the prices this year, I'd have expected $200,000 with the history of this car.

I hope he keeps his website up with his car even though it is gone now. It is a great story.

Yes, I was speaking to the prices, not that the market would go away.

I get great pleasure in driving my '59 without the creature comforts, but have thought it would be kinda cool to have a reproduction 1960 Cascade Green car with all new components.

Again it just proves to me that many people have more money then brains...how can you even begin to compare a make beleive kit Camaro (Fose 572) is worth more then one of the rarest Corvettes who is selling as the original owner. And just becuase it has HEMI on it makes it a six figure car.... I sold a car at B&J in Palm Beach....it was a 96 SS with over 500 HP was on TV in Mags and built by REESE COX Corvette Builder...fully documented and I never recouped anything near what I put into it...BTW it won every award around....so ther you go, you can never tell.....

I think the BJ folks did it injustice. The talk up was terrible, Dave and his wife drove it upon the stage and unless you were listing real hard you missed it. They didn’t' talk up the racing history or the cars story period. It should have gotten the same work up as Carol Shelby or Alice Cooper or Sammy Hagar. They moved it across the block pretty fast. And those clowns on TV I have never heard moré misinformation about Corvettes in my life. If I heard NCRS certified once I heard it about every car with a blue ribbon on it.
