Does anyone recommend retorqueing small block heads after a rebuild(standard Fel Pro gasket set and ARP bolts used)?

Re: retorque

If you used a standard-type Fel Pro composition gasket, the answer is a big YES. If you used a Fel Pro Permatorque Blue composition gasket, then no retorque is necessary. If you used stock-type steel shim gaskets in a Fel Pro kit, the answer is also that no retorque is necessary.
The Permatorque Blue gaskets are fairly expensive (about 50 bucks each). However, they are the way to go from many aspects. Just the freedom from the retorque requirement makes them, alone, worth the extra bucks. However, they have many other attributes, too, that make them worth the money.
I used to use the Permatorque Blue exclusively for the last 30 years, or so. No more, though. Now I use Cometic Multi Layer Steel. These are even more expensive (about 100 bucks each). Cheap at twice the price, though. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
