    Barrett-Jackson auction surpasses 97K

    I've watched all 33 hrs of this event on television (well, fastforwarded thru some commercials) until my eyeballs hurt. I believe this auction did 38.? million in '04, 61.2 million in '05, now another record shattering year. I thought after last years leap in record $$'s, it might be a bit tough to surpass it by much.

    I guess I don't know the collector car market as well as I thought. Any way this just blows my mind. Today a '69 Cortez Silver L-71 convertible was bid to 119K, I think thats got to be a new high for a non L89 optioned car.

    Can we have a moment of silent prayer for all of the owners who had to buy their own cars back? "Good news, dear, we used to only have 85K in that (insert Ford or Mopar model here), now we've got 104K in it. Yes, it's in the garage.".

      Loren;

      That information would be very interesting to know. Today there were 2 consignments that were run thru again, due to buyer not completing the sale.

      The 1970 yellow six shooter 'cuda, yesterday sold at 170K, today at 132K. The black willys don't know yesterdays price, today hit 112K, description on television said over 200K invested in building car.

      I guess I was mistaken, there was a '69 L-71 'vette that got 130K yesterday, so apparently we may have a upward trend for "early sharks".

        I use to think that you should only buy a collector car if you can pay cash for it. Now I'm thinking they are the best investment there is but be sure to sell before the baby boomers are to old to drive.

            Loren,

            You nailed that one, I saw several cars that went home with an 80K plus addition to there bottom line.
