    65 Corvette speedometer driven gear

Can anyone tell me what color the driven gear in the transmission would be for a 65 Corvette, 365hp, 4:11 rear-end and 4-sp transmission. It has the correct wheels and tires. I have looked the internet over for a table listing the different options. I'm sure the gear is wrong because I'm actually going faster than it is registering. Thanks.

    Dennis:
It could be any of three gears: black 23, yellow 24, clear 25. Hope this helps, good luck.

      Dennis,

This has been a often asked question so I thought it might be helpful to everyone if I post a chart for the DRIVEN gears. Not sure why but the parts book also shows a few combinations that never existed for Corvette. Also, many of the part numbers have changed over the years but at least it will show the color and tooth count. Hope this helps.

        Page 2

Page two of the driven gear chart. As mentioned, there are many inaccurate applications on this page.

          Michael------

Corvette P&A Catalogs for many years were somewhat "ambiguous" with respect to the proper speedometer gears for many Corvette applications. In many cases, tire sizes (which significantly affect speedometer gear usage) are shown which were never used on a Corvette. In other cases, the information in the P&A Catalog is just plain wrong. While the VAST majority of P&A Catalog information is phenomenally accurate (if interpreted properly), speedometer gear applications are an exception. Power steering pump pullies, another question regarding which came up recently, are another area of "ambiguous" information.

Also, many of the speedometer gears shown on the catalog pages you posted are no longer available or have been replaced by other part numbers. About the only ones still available under the part numbers shown are the DRIVEN gears for the 22-25 tooth nylon gears.
