    C2 Front Bumper Alignment

Putting a body-off '65 back together and am having a "small" difficulty with the front bumpers protruding too far forward in the center section. It appears that the long support brace (bolts to the frame rail and passes thru grille) is just too long. They are repros.
To move the bumper centers rearward so that they are less protruding and more parallel to the nose, it looks like those braces need to be shorter or slotted to allow aft movement.
Anyone out there had to modify these braces for proper fitment?

Check the distance of the flat surface (where the bumper bolts on) to the frame mount hole center, against a known set of originals. If that dimension is the same, then the bumper position should be correct.

Mike, We recently put together a 67 that had a lot of front end repairs which looked ok but were poorly done leading to problems like what you describe only worse, I'm sure. We had to slot bolt holes etc in most of the brackets to get everything right but were able to make it look pretty straight. If the braces are not bent then slotting the boltholes might do it.
