Is the correct part number for a C2 ('64) gas tank sending unit 3001506?. I plugged that number into the GM Parts Direct website and it came back as being available as part number 6428164. Is this correct? I figure to replace the original sending unit in my car and want to make sure I've got the right part number.
I searched the archives and it appears there were possible issues with the repro sending units. Should only GM sending units be considered?
64 fuel sending unit is # 6428065 Good for 63 - 67, however I'm not sure if that number has changed. The # 6428164 is for 68 - 72. All information is from 53-72 Parts Catalog. You should be getting some expert response soon with better details, just thought you might want to try this other number first.
The original part number for your 1964 sending unit was 6425113. This was a carry over from 1963. The part number for the 65, 66, & 67 was 6425827. Now if you had the N03 (big tank), the number was 5642798 for all mid years.
