I have been told that all c3 frames are the same and I can use anyone. Is this true?
I am working on several corvette projects. My 1973 convertible BB, has some front frame damage so I have been keeping my eye out for a frame as a possibility. I thought I needed a 1973 frame since it was a unique year.
thanks

Go to corvettefaq.com and click on the "Suspension." button. Under selection of articles open up "C2/C3 Frame History." This will detail all of the evolutionary changes made from the frame starting in 1963 up to 1982.
Here's the info from that site so someone can find this in the archives if the site goes down someday
1963 Frame intro
1964 Body mt brackets changed & gussets added to kick up area
1965 Indent added to xmember due to larger engine pulley - slot added for side exhaust mounting
1968 Rear xmember changed - height & location of body mounts changed - extra gussets added to rear kick up area
1973 Body mounts lowered to accomodate thicker bushings
1975 Provisions for energy absorbing bumber shocks added
1976 Left side exhaust mount on transmission xmember deleted
1978 Gas tank xmember changed - Rear xmember changed to accomodate new rear styling and gas tank location
IN GENERAL
1968-1982 Automatics has removable xmembers & the Manual Transmission Vettes had welded xmembers. The exceptions would be the 80-81 in which they were all removable
