What does the JG have to say about the battery for 66? Is it tar top or hardtop? Trying to help someone with a January build 66 coupe. Supposedly, the tar top was replaced with the new hardtop energizer some time in early production but I don't know when.
I have an NOS "Delco Eye" for a tar top but I don't know if they were ever installed in production batteries. Thanks.
Michael - I got mine (tar top not plastic) from Antique Auto Battery in Hudson OH. It is sitting in a box in my office. I bought 2 at the time of judging as I knew they had a limited life and may not be available too long. Recently, I purchased one of those dry cell repros from the same company. It is GREAT !!! Way more power than the lead acid and except for the plastic top looks like a dead match. Good luck in finidng the tar top.
Pretty sure that's the same outfit that supplied a tar top to a friend with a 64 Turbo Corvair and it looks/functions exactly as original. I was impressed. Took about two months to get it but worth the wait.
