Have chance to buy dual quad set up to install on a '58. Its on a running '57 now, not original to car. Owner is not trying to represent as anything it is not. Carb tags are long gone. Correct number on Winters intake - 3739653. What am I looking for as far as ID numbers and where? Dates?

Re: Dual Quads
To clarify what I am asking: How do I determine if these carbs are right for a 58? If not what are they? Are ID numbers visble without disassembly? Thanks- Top

Re: Dual Quads
Hi, I'm pulling this right out of the 58-60 Judging Guide:
The manifold 3739653 is correct for a 58-60 2X4 set up either 245 or 270 horse.
For 245, the front carb is 2626S and the rear is 2627S
For 270, the front carb is 2613S and the rear is 2614S
You can check the casting numbers as a proof positive test;
Air Horn Cover = "6-1299"
Main Body = "0-049" or "0-1049"
Throttle Body = "1-1387B"
Hope this helps, Joel- Top

Re: Dual Quads
Thanks for the info. Does that provide enough to verify 1958 without the missing brass tags?- Top

Re: Dual Quads
Have not seen them again to find the numbers, only a fairly quick look, which seemed to jive with printed photos of '58 set-up. Should have more info next week. Thanks for all your help. Another question - are there date codes stamped into the carbs?- Top

Re: Dual Quads
No date codes are on the carb body or airhorn themselves. The date code is on the brass tag that is held on by a screw, you can buy any date code tag you want, already dated for your car, from the repro parts dealers. If the carbs are 1299 top and 049 or 1049 body they are good for 57 to 61.- Top
