Chrome and Grill assembly on 62

    Hi all.

I have a few questions that I need some help with so not to screw things up.Because my 1962 vette I bought 7 years ago that was a total basket case with nothing attached to it, it makes it hard to know what goes where first. I am now ready to install all the chrome. Is there any order of what goes on first on the front end? First, can the grill surround chrome be installed without the grill? Then can the grill be put on later? I still need to buy a grill. Does the grill go in front of the holes in the body or behind the holes? Also, I need to still get horns. Can the horns be installed after the grill is installed or do they have to be installed through the grill opening? One last question..Is there a tool out there for sale to tighten the antenna? On the bezel is 2 little grooves for the tool to hold.Or does someone have an idea how to tighten with? I have checked local auto part stores with no luck.

Any and all help is appreciated............Thanks..John

Install the grill surround first the grill bolts to the surround with spacers between the grill and the surround. I would install horns before anything else. Are the brackets for the horns still there? Good luck. Terry

      1. Install the horns before the grille. You can best get to the horns when either the grille or the hood is off the car. So, if the hood is already installed, ....

      2. There is a tool for tightening the antenna. Check the usual Corvette vendors. But you may not want it. You can usually get it tight enough by hand. If you get it too tight, you'll either chip the paint or (most likely because I did it) split the washer.

      3. Not sure about the grille and the surrounds.
