    How To Clean Wire Terminals

Trying to reburbish the wiring harness on a 73 corvette, I would like to assure the terminals still in their plastic sockets are clean and free from dirt and corrosion. Any recommendations what solution the terminals and sockets can be dipped in to safely accomplish this task? Thank you.

I use eletrical terminal cleaner from Radio Shack. It comes in a can with a brush end attached. The fluid sprays through the brush and allows the brush to be used to remove any heavy buildup of grime or oxidation. Does not harm plastic. I've used it on my '71 with great success.

      Roger...

The Terminals are made from tin plated brass and will oxide over time. Remove the oxide with a white eraser. Fine Scothch-Brite will work, but is more agressive. Try not to remove the tin plating and expose the base metal. Light polishing is best.
