My question is in regards to the trunk and soft top compartment on an early 1959 car.
I am wondering if any new information has surfaced since Noland wrote his book. In it he writes:
"Paint procedure charts have been no help in determining when the truck area was first painted exterior color. The 1958 Corvette paint instructions shows the top and trunk compartment, deck lid panel (inside) and the folding top panel (inside) were all painted the same. As we know from the examination of many '58 Corvettes, these areas were painted to match the interior...The 1959 and 1960 Corvette assembly line useed the same paint procedure chart. Again the instruction sheets shows (all areas)...to be painted the same color. This area of painting procedure on the '59 and '60 Corvettes certainly raises a number of questons for which there are not yet acceptable answers."
My car (which was repainted years ago) has the exterior color in the compartment, but I have a 1959 Road & Track magazine with a Corvette test in it, and that car had the soft top compartment painted the interior color, so I'm assuming thats the correct way to do it. Especially for early 1959.
Anyone have any information to the contrary?
Thanks.
