    Parts Quiz..........

Pretty quiet on the board today. Can anyone identify this part? Was used on some C2's and a few C3's.

Can't see a pic of the part, Michael, but it was nice to meet you in person at Orlando. I was sitting with Rick Aleshire. Rick and I were both stuffing our faces, as usual. Chuck

              Re: The Part

Do they fit in the hollow end of the bolts used to secure a hard top to the convertible top deck?

                The Part

Yes, exactly right Dan. Almost never see these on the cars as they were usually lost or the heads were broken off early in their life. The bolt was never serviced as an assembly with the bumper installed but the bumper was available separately from GM for many years. Problem was, almost no one ever found them in the parts book. It's #14 in the AIM drawing.

                  Another Interesting Part Often Missing...

As long as we're on hardtops and their attaching hardware, here's another part that seems to always be missing. When the top was removed, the owner was to remove the two rear mounting studs from the top and install them in the now open holes in the deck lid. Two 3827499 rubber washers were provided, to be installed on the bolt to seal the head to the deck lid bezel. The washers were to be placed in the instrument panel compartment of every new car equipped with a hardtop. The hardtop section of the AIM does not show the part number but it is shown on the misc shipping list along with other items that were to be placed in the IP.

                    Michael -

Those sealing washers just went into the latest edition of the '67 JG.
