    '67 grille

Can someone tell me the correct finish for my '67 grille? The outer lip is bright chrome, but is the egg crate also shiny chrome or is it supposed to be a frosted finish?

If it is entirely shiny chrome, and mine is just "frosted" with age, has anyone had any luck having their grilles rechromed?

    Thanks for any help.

On the Original grill in my 67, all the flat surfaces are frosted and all the surfaces that face forward are bright chrome. I hope that makes sence?

Suggestions on how to re-frost the grille?

Is there a product out there that I can use to re--frost the egg crate?
        Thanks again.

You can get a new '67 grille....

in the GM box from www.gmpartsdirect.com for $257. I got one because one of the tabs was broken. This new one is beautiful! PT

If the chrome is good then you can restore your original yourself. Polish the chrome surfaces and just mask off the flat chrome surfaces that face forward and spray the grille with Krylon dull aluminum from the back side. If you get some overspray just use some 0000 steel wool to get it off. I did mine and it came out great. I've heard that the repos have a lot of "edge" slag from the mold.

Thanks Steve. My facing bright chrome is in great shape, and there is no damage to my grille. The frosted section is blotchy though. I think I'll try to get an $8 can of dull aluminium and see how that works.

I appreciate everyone's input. It makes for a better restoration.

From the originals, there are differences in the casting and the Part# that are obvious to experienced judges.
