    overheating

    1. 1965 327/365hp. The spring in front of the clutch fan-if the spring is un-hooked, does the fan engauge sooner or latter?
    2. Has anyone used any of the raditor additives to decrease the water temp that has worked ie "waterwetter" and/or "40 below"?

    Re: overheating

Radiator additives are simply surfactants that reduce surface tension of the coolant at the passage walls, and are no more than a temporary band-aid for the real root cause of a more serious cooling system problem.

99% of cooling problems result from either inadequate radiator heat rejection capability ("cooling capacity") or inadequate airflow through the radiator. What are your symptoms - heats up only in traffic, only at highway speed, or both, or?

I'll throw in that you should not overlook the ignition timing either. My Mustang had a double whammy in that the balancer ring had slipped indicating an erroneous TDC when using the timing light. I replaced the balancer only to find out that the vacuum advance mechanism did not work either.
