Front wheel cylinders 61

Would someone be so kind to supply me with the part# and casting# of 61 front wheel cylinders(Standard brakes). Also is the the standard cylinder 1" or 1-1/8"

The original front wheel cylinders had a 1-3/16" bore size.

The left front was cast 5459527 and of GM PART #5459518. The right front cylinder was cast 5459528 and was of GM PART #5459519.

These parts are long-since GM discontinued and replaced by other part numbers. None of those replacements remain available from GM, although they should be available in the aftermarket. Even aftermarket replacements may not be the 1-3/16" bore size, though.

There were MANY applications for a 1-1/8" bore cylinder. As far as Corvette goes, these included 53-59 Corvettes as well as 60-62 with HD brakes. Some of the later SERVICE cylinders for 60-64 Corvettes may have been 1-1/8", too.

Many applications. However, as far as Corvette goes, they are applicable to all 53-59 Corvette and 60-62 Corvette with HD brakes.

548 and 549 are not correct for 61-62 cars with heavy duty brakes--only correct for the earlier standard brake cars. The 61-62 heavy brake rear wheel cylinders are really tough to find!

In a strict originality sense, they may not be. However, they were specified in SERVICE by GM for the 60-62 HD brake front application.
