I'm not being critical of Terry. I just would have a hard time smiling after I spent that much money.

Then again, if I had that much to spend, maybe I would be smiling even more.

Sorry Mike, I don't share your viewpoint

When you say "this hobby is still all about the money!" you imply that the we are all some how motivated by financial gain.

This hobby is about the cars and our enjoyment with them. Not the money. The fact that some "hobbyist" didn't buy the car from Bill pretty much validates my point and blows a hole through yours.

I don't begrudge a person for pimping the NCRS and the Corvettes we love, but don't put us all in the same boat.

Re: Sorry Mike, I don't share your viewpoint

        Tracy,

The "Driveline" was 139 pages long this issue. All but 9 pages were parts, cars for sale, services, wanted ads and the usual Corvette trinkets, trash and literature for sale at the back of the Driveline. Granted, this IS the function of the Driveline. Wouldn't it be nice if the "Restorer" had just half that many pages?

Please do not take it personally as a slam by me "painting" you or anyone else involved in this hobby as being involved only for the money. I have met very few people if any people who are heavily involved in this Corvette hobby that got involved just for the money. Virtually all had a love or passion for Corvettes. Some just decided that their passion would become their vocation. It is truly a shame that most people living in the good ole USA cannot say their passion is their vocation. I salute the vendors in this hobby that turned their passion into a vocation so we all can enjoy the benefits of their labor.

With all that being said, this hobby still revolves around all the money that is involved. Whether it's spending money on that special part for that coveted judging point, buying or selling a Corvette, a rebuilt starter from Autozone for your driver Corvette or a yearly membership to NCRS. Money greases the wheel in this hobby or profession depending role you play in your pusuit of the Corvette hobby!

I'm pretty sure I will make it to the nats in Texas amigo. I've blocked out the week as vacation at work but I've not yet registered.

If you are going, that will probably push me over the edge. I'd sure like to see your smiley face again. When I see you, it reminds me how handsome I really am.

Ken and Gary Naber restored my 67 as well and the manifolds look just like the Last 67. I also really like the way they look!

IMHO that TM is going to make a killing on this car. Can you imagine if he brings it to BJ next year after the car recieves all the major awards, which I am sure that he will do. Can you say million dollar baby!

It's being sold at this year's Bloomington auction. It won't even make it to a Duntov and probably won't even have a Bloomington Gold award since the judging is Sunday.

So, it won't have received much other than possibly a TF. It may be at the Chevy/Vettefest show in April, but I'm not sure how much stock one can put in that award and/or judging.

Patrick, I just checked the Mecum listing for BG and the car is not listed. Maybe TM had a change in heart and decided to wait and market the car until it gets more awards and exposure. This is just speculation on my part but my guess would be BJ in 07.

I just checked the car's website. They've changed their wording from being auctioned at BGold to being "presented" at Bloomington at a reception.

You may be correct that they are going to try for more awards.

                          Is the engine a restamp?

If so, who did it? I bet he's really good and has done more than a few before!

No, look at the car's website.

The guy who stamped it has his advertisement there for all to see.
                                No secret at all.
