How can you restore steel lines?

What is the best way to restore steel lines like the transmission cooler lines and engine fuel lines? I know I can get repros but I'm trying to keep the car as original as possible and don't really want to trash the original ones. I thought as a last resort that I would just cad plate them...incorrect I know, but I really have no idea on how to tackle this part of the project. Any help here is appreciated. Thanks.

    Greg------

There's no way that I know of to exactly reproduce the original finish. However, if you can find a plater that will do TIN plating, you can get fairly close. The problem is that to do it right you'd need to remove the end fittings, finish them seperately, and then re-install and double flare the tubing ends.

I use fine steel wool to clean them up, then shoot them with satin clear to keep them that way.

          Gary -

I use Eastwood's "Diamond Clear" (satin), for bare metal surfaces; works great.
