Cost to paint a 69 convertible?

Can anyone tell me how much it would cost to repaint a 69 roaster? The body is in good shape. I am in the process of getting bids and do not know what would be considered reasonable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A lot depends upon what kind of a paint job you want and where you live. However, for a factory-original type paint job with proper preparation and removal of all trim, bumpers, etc. prior to painting, you'd be looking at around $7,000 to 8,000 here in California. A custom paint job (not usually desirable for restorers but very desirable for other forms of showing), it would cost quite a bit more---maybe 50% or more additional.

As Joe says $7-8k is a reasonable number. A top quality restoration paint job can run twice that. Removing the doors, deck lid, etc and duplicating the factory finish (gloss, mask lines, overspray), such as that. Ya git what ya pay for (hopefully)

I was in a Harley Dealer some years back and a customer was asking a sales person about Helmets and stated why does this helmet cost $50.00 & this one is $500.00 the sales persons reply if you have a $50.00 head buy this one.Same is true for body and paint work. If you just want a driver then a 10 ft job is ok if you want show quality 8-10 K is not out of the?
