Thermostat housing part # question C3

The NCRS second edition (there is a third edition now) lists part number 336790 as the correct thermostat housing for a 73 L48/L82. Can someone verify that this is correct. I find loads of 336773 and 3877660 when I do a web search but practically nothing on 336790.

Also thanks to Jack H., Patrick H., and Gerald F. for the help with the washer pump on the car. It is now working again after a long 20+ year hiatus. I used the original parts (w/original umbrella valves) with a new triple o ring put it back together as I metioned and was getting a vacuum on the reservoir end. I about had to herniate myself but I could get flow blowing in the opposite direction. I tried the system this morning and NO luck.
At this point I was hoping it wasn't the pump itself. I took the valve asm back apart and examined the old umbrella valves, they seemed okay but maybe on the hard side. I took the umbrella valves out of the repair kit piece and removed the old ones from the original piece. I wanted to use the old plastic/delrin to keep the look and wear consistent versus the white replacement contrasted against the 33 year old base. The umbrella valves in the new piece were more pliable and seemed a lot more willing to allow flow then the old ones. I fired her up and the washer worked. In fact it about soaked everything within about 5 feet of the car.

    Charles------

1973 Corvettes used thermostat housing GM #3877660, the same housing used for most 66-72 Corvette applications and MANY other Chevrolet applications of the period. This housing has NO NPT fittings. Although 1973 Corvettes DID use EGR, they did not use a thermostat housing-mounted temperature switch.

The GM #336790 was used for 1974 through ABOUT 1978 Corvettes. It has ONE NPT fitting for an emissions system sensor/switch.

      Addendum

      Charles------

Also, the GM #336773 is a thermostat outlet that MAY have been used alternately for 1973. I researched this once-upon-a-time, but I've forgotten the details. The 336773 MAY be like the 3877660 but without the little "tab" for carburetor accelerator spring mounting (unused on Corvette). I'm just not sure. I have an NOS example of the 336773 but I have no inclination, at the moment, to try to "dig it out". If it does have an NPT fitting like the 336790, then it was NOT used for 1973 Corvettes.

Re: Carb Spring boss NCRS correct

So is the presence of the spring boss correct for the car and NCRS? I am guessing they only made one type of 3877660 and they all had the spring boss.

          Charles-----

I don't know regarding the spring tab with respect to 1973 judging requirements. The 3877660 DID have the spring "tab". I really don't know, for sure, regarding the configuration of the other.

Also, all GM #3877660 are NOT configured the same. All DO HAVE the spring tab. Otherwise, however, later SERVICE examples are configured considerably different on the base than the originals used in PRODUCTION and also available in SERVICE for many years thereafter.

Thanks Joe...I guess I will set my sights on a 3877660 (with indent configuration). I don't have a third edition of the judging guide for this car. I wonder if it has been changed to reflect that.
