    1967 steering wheel

    Is the 1967 steering wheel the same simulated walnut wheel as the 65-66?

      no but some 67 chevelles etc had the same wheel. there is an offset on the wheel to hub mating surface of the 67 that differs from the mating surfaces of the other midyear wheels.mike

          The spokes on a 1967 wheel have an offset at the base which differs from the earlier wheels, but the plastic woodgrain is the same.

              The '67 steering wheel hub also has a cast-in offset for the center spoke to fit into, and is different than the '66 and earlier hubs. You can put a '63-'66 wheel on a '67 hub, but you can't put a '67 wheel on the earlier hubs.

                  Many of the 68 parts were common to the 67 parts. Will a 67 wheel fit on a 68? I'd like to know. Actually, I'm interested in putting a teak wheel on my 68 even though that was not a standard part. If I can find a 67 teak wheel, will it fit on my 68 (non-telescoping). Thanks

                      Howell, Teak wheels were not available on 67 model year.

                          Thanks. It appears that if I want a teak wheel for my 68, I can't assume that a 67 wheel will fit. At this stage,I'll probably have to have a custom made wheel, and I assume the wheel builder will know how to make the wheel fit a 68 (can't imagine there's that much difference between a 67 and a 68) . I think I'll start looking for a plastic stock 68 wheel in the Driveline magazine or on Ebay to use as a sacrifice wheel for a teak wheel build modification.

                              67 and 68 steering wheels are the same part. The teak wheel builders will build you whatever you want on your frame.

                                  Agree with ken, the spokes of 67 and 68 wheels are the same. The steering wheel assembly, however, is different for 68. The difference is in the plastic of the rim. The 67 wheel is textured/grained and the 68 is not.
