'66 HUB CAP SPINNER FLAG SQUARE PAINT

Am I correct that '66 emblem flags have a white square in the upper left corner, while '65 have black?

    Rob,

The JG states that for '66 it can be either Black or White in the upper right corner. On mine, which I believe are original (due to the very faded and worn condition), they are black.

While on the subject, how are they attached? Rivet, screw or what?

      Rob,

Originally they are held in place by the metal cap that goes over it, which is secured by peening over the three small, rivet-like posts that extend up from the spinner.

        Rob,

How then does one go about replacing the emblem without having to replace the entire spinner if the small peened over posts are toast?

          Rob,

You drill out the posts just enough to remove the cap and emblem. Snap the new emblem in place and put the metal cap over it. Drip a small amount of JB Weld over the three hole areas in the cap. It will drip down onto what's left of the posts and hold everything together. I've heard you can use a small drill bit instead, and then tap it for very small screws. I tried that method but it didn't work for me.

The screw method worked for me, but if I had to do over again, I'd go the JB Weld route.
