I've purchased a mid year Corvette radio with a label indicating model #986281. The Delco diode inidicates D8-501 and 6505. Anyone know what year car radio this might be applicable to? Thanks in advance. Mike #28614

Re: Mid year radio help anyone?
Mike,
You have a 65 through 67 Corvette AmFm radio. I think the 63 and 64 were slightly different. The diode should be a DS-501 and by the number, it is probably from a 65. There are replacement transistors and parts available for it. Let us know if it works.

Probably from '65 VIN 9800 range
Your DS-501 output transistor was made 5th week of 1965. I have a 986281 (81FSB-0106 Ident. #), originally from car #101xx, with DS-501 dated 6506. Do you have your Ident # ?
Probably only difference in '65-67 AM/FM radios is on the circuit board; the '67 used different #'s for 5 out of the 11 transistors (all the FM section and the AM oscillator).- Top
