    C2 Gas Cap

Perhaps ebay #4608749265 will qualify for Joe's "how not to buy a part" list! 3952708 is still available from GM for $26.94.

Actually, my question is at what point did the Stant logo change from the small "sm" to the block "S"? Since it's just s manufacturer's stamp, I wouldn't think it would necessarily correspond with the part number change.

Maybe it is my eyes but it looks like it has a black rubber gasket.

The current JG books through '74 all call for the early logo which suggests the change to the block-S format occurred after 1974. In '75 the gas cap changed to reflect Federal mandates in filler neck size that accompanied the wide scale conversion to unleaded gas.

Actually, if you look VERY closely at the original, early, Stant logo you'll see it's the letters 'sm' surrounded by a large 'C' with all of that surrounded by a full circle.

All GM #3952708, first used for in PRODUCTION for the 1969 model year and later SERVICE for all 63-69, have the black rubber gasket.

Yes, it definitely qualifies. This cap is a current version of the 3952708. One can get one just like it for the current GM list, or less, at any GM dealer.

Joe -- thanks -- I flat out missed the newer years in the ebay title line -- I was thinking midyear.
