When someone ordered an optional gear ratio back in '70, did the dealer use the G81 option and then fill-in what ratio the customer ordered? Also, what was the stock gear ratio if the customer didn't choose one?

July 1970 Motor Trend article w/order form
Shows the entire 1970 Corvette (dealer) Order form.
Under "Axle ratio, Rear [Replacing standard ratio positraction rear axle]", you could check off one of 4 boxes:
Economy Ratio (ZQ8); Performance ratio (ZQ9); Special ratio - 3.70 (YE1); Special ratio - 4.11 (YE2); Special ratio - 4.56 (YE3).
Not able to scan this, but could shoot a jpeg of entire form and post if any are interested (soon as it gets daylight out west).- Top

Re: 1970 rear axle ordering question
Mark,
The standard ratio in 1970 was dependent on engine and other options combinations (like A/C). I think the standard big block ratio was 3.36 without A/C and 3.08 with A/C. I'm not sure of the small block combinations as I do not have my books handy.Tony- Top
