Hello, I have an original air cleaner lid that I would like rechromed. The problem is that I sent it to paragon and they said that they would not be able to flash chrome the lid per my request because it was pitted. I do not think that it is pitted and would like to find a place to perform the service. Should I forget about trying to rechrome this lid as original or should I try to find an NOS lid. Thanks in advance.

Re: Rechroming
There are repop's out there with the stencil on the underside, you will see them all the time on ebay, like item number 8035214868, 4611600717 4611601233 or you can purchase it thru long island or maybe the other corvette parts distributor.
FYI:
I do have a old original that can be polished or replated with no pitting.

Re: Rechroming
I am with you I have a repop on my car, and a NOS if I ever enter my car for judging, if you "flash chrome" any of them you will need to have the correct stencil anyway.

Re: Rechroming
Steve,
You might want to use your original, as is, for judging. I went in for judging with my 67 S/B original with chrome corrosion at the creases, a tattered label, and unreadable silk screening covered with carbon deposits, and only got 4 points off on condition. That is out of 20 on originality, and 20 on condition.
I'm sure I would have lost more points on the perfect repop (without silk screening), that I use for every day.
