Re: Driveline in St Louis
The Driveline has not made it to Northern California. It is well beyond time our NCRS Officers correct the delivery problem by offering first class mail service. I am in my 23rd year as a member of the NCRS and I can't remember a slate of officers as non responsive to the membership as the current administration. They seem to be more concerned with making charitable contributions and entertainment at national events than listening to the needs and wants of the membership. Please don't get me wrong, I am a very charitable person. I just don't think it is appropriate for the NCRS to donate our money to charity. I can and do this on my own. I also think it is inappropriate to spend thousands of dollars on entertainment at national events. I believe people attend these events to have their cars judged and enjoy the corvette comaradie.- Top

Re: Driveline in the NL
It finally arrived today in the Netherlands. I wonder if it is worthwhile calling for any part after the 3 weeks delay... ;-(

Re: Driveline in St Louis
NCRS should not give our money to charity; I choose to whom I contribute. I pay my dues for services rendered, too often it's for services not rendered. Like other organizations, as they become larger, NCRS has become non-responsive to the membership. By their inaction(s) on issues that concern the membership, the NCRS officers demonstrate their disregard for us.- Top

NCRS is an organization & a Business, not a club
Don't get confused that NCRS is a club like your local Corvette club.
There are the founding members (the stockholders) who own it and profit from it. There the second layer of officers and directors who run it to some degree to keep the organization profitable. Then there is a third level of the Judging Teams and Tech Advisors who determine the aspects of rules and judging guidelines.
The rest of us are just paying someone for two magazine subscriptions and a chance to say were are part of some elite organization.
Then you have the judging events. You pay for all of that, none of it is free to members.
First you have to pay $35 to be allowed to register.
Then you have to register - $45 to $60 per event.
Then you have to pay a Judging fee, often $45.
We may have a club comradery among some members, but the organization isn't a club. As long as you remember this, none of you have any gripes about how NCRS decides to spend your money and run their business.
Your only gripes can be that your magazine subscription is being delivered lousy.- Top

Re: NCRS is an organization & a Business, not a cl
Sad state of affairs. I don't care about being a member of an "elite organization." This Tech Board is the only thing I get from my NCRS membership--and membership isn't even required to use it. Paragon does give me a 10% discount; otherwise I'm wasting my $. Might stop that.- Top

Re: NCRS is an organization & a Business, not a cl
The silence on the part of the NCRS leadership in response to the complaints raised by the PAYING membership is deafening, and speaks volumes. Will it take a decline in membership before anyone listens? I would think the NCRS needs the members more than the members need the NCRS since there are now many other Corvette related organizations and forums on the internet where Corvette owners can congregate.

Mark: you are absolutely wrong when you state the founding fathers(stockholders)own and profit from NCRS. absolutely wrong.the officers are volunteers. the membership chairman, judging chairman and editor are paid employees of YOUR club. if you have a bitch with the way the club functions, run for a regioal rep seat and you'll get a vote on club matters. mike mccagh- Top

Mark put on an event & see how much one
costs to do. As you previously said "everything NCRS does should be free". Well, Mark whoever you are, it takes alot of money to put on a Regional or other Judging meet and alot of good hardworking NCRS members put a lot of sweat, dedication and time into making NCRS meets happen then someone like yourself (either non-member or a member hiding behind a pseudonym who's too afraid to sign his real name or too cheap to belong to NCRS) comes along and bad mouths all of these folks that work real hard for free. Come on Mark, be a real man and tell us who you really are or are you too chicken too. Gary....NCRS Texas Chapter

Re:NCRS is a Business-AMEN Mike!
NCRS is officially chartered as a not-for-profit corporation, so there are no "beneficial owners" other than the membership. Try sitting in the chair of one of the ELECTED officers trying to run a 15000 member organization with a mostly volunteer workforce. It is a fact that NCRS uses the US postal service to send out the club mailings, and occasionly the PO loses a piece of mail. It happens to everyone who ships large quantities of items on eBay and is part of the price of a low cost mail service. I have attended meets of other car-related groups and the fees charged at an NCRS event are pretty mild indeed. Temporary fencing, security guards, meals for volunteers (their only pay) are not free. If you have not been involved in the planning and execution of a major event, I'd suggest trying it sometime before being too critical, especially before assuming things are "free", or making wild claims about volunteers "getting rich"Bill Clupper #618- Top
