    C1 trunklid/decklid hinge tower units

Looking for definitive ID info as I am "shopping" this weekend at a swapmeet (Puyallup WA). Drivers side needed for a 58, the following observations are from my 59 (99% sure the units are original). Both trunk arms have stamped # 4154768. The pass towers outer side metal has slotted holes, no other holes on its left vertical panel or the drivers side unit at all.
Are there any identifying elements that I need to recognize a drivers side unit to fit a 58 Corvette? (bought 4 so far and still have a problem. I have not viewed the problem but was told that many shims were needed for the decklid which now won't allow the trunklid to even close without body to trunklid contact. My friend thinks the arms bent when the decklid blew open during transport. The arms don't look like they would bend, I am guessing the tower panels are damaged or the bodywork mounting area is damaged)

    Joseph...

Shims may be required to raise the trunk lid to meet the body line. If the leading edge is too high, adding a single shim under the top "one" bolt will bring the line down. Check the spring in the tower assembly, You may have bent the mounting brackets on top during the blow-open.
    Good luck
