1963 Vinyl Dash Skin

I will be re-skinning the center fiberglass dash unit using an Al Knoch dash cover. Has anyone ever preformed this task, and are there any helpful tips that you can provide?

You might want to make sure that the vinyl is warm, so it will be flexible. Dry fit first. Only apply the adheasive to the small area you are working on. I did the center section first, around the speaker grill. The most difficult area is at the bottom below the radio. There are a lot of tight turns and bends. Having an assistant for an extra set of hands is a good idea.

I have all the clips and metal parts off the fiberglass dash panel and I am ready to remove the original skin. Is there any helpful hints for this process?

Someone else stripped mine for me. But I would think using some acetone to loosen the adheasive a little heat to soften things up and patience. Get plenty of ventilation if you are using acetone.
