Yup, that's the critter John. Thanks. Was this one plated or painted originally? I seem to remember this part being natural without paint or plating.

        Michael -

I believe it was dip-primed or flow-coated black (in an expanded-metal mesh basket, like all the small stuff was).

Many years ago, (sounds like a "once upon a time deal) Zimmerman and I were talking about this exact part so we decided to check several of the cars that Buxbaum had. Most were unrestored Calif cars with zero rust/corrosion, and we came to the conclusion that this part, weird as it seems, was natural.

During the restoration of a maroon 435 California coupe (09392 or 09293)this bracket was also natural when the part was removed from the IP. I'll try to find the pic's. Possible some were dipped and some natural? If it's removed, the back side may show the original surface.

What's this early 67 Corvette world coming to. OS review mirrors with "bow ties," interior review mirrors with rectangular knobs, B stamped rallye wheels, outboard seat belt boots with no hole, 66 glovebox cover decals, TRICO wiper holders stamped with TRICO (only) and now SPECIAL RETAINERs for the clutch return spring. Where will it ever end?????? Next step is a 1967 Covette "early" class. You just gotta love this hobby.

Well, at least I know I've gotten mine installed properly... Thanks for the photo. Is it necessary to insert the spring from the left side (as shown in the picture) or does it matter? (since i intalled mine the other way). Thanks again.

                Brandon -

I don't think it matters which way it's installed.
