    Yet another engine stamp pad question

    While looking at a two owner 66 SB the other day I could`nt help noticing the arrangement of the way the pad was stamped. Reading from left to right, standing in front of the car, the serial number was first, in small figures, then the engine code figures were stamped in larger figures. I think all the pad photos I`ve seen posted, had the arrangement reversed from what I described.
    Did the stampers switch things around for different engines or years? Just curious, Thanks, Bill

      That's because you were looking at one of the few remaining big block delete cars.

      Engine plant code on the left is normal for a small block.
