Holy Moley! (Corvette Swap Meet)

Just got back from Corvette and Hi-Performance Meet. Could not believe how many people were there. Last time I went there was hardly anyone. Must be the nice weather today. Lots of neat stuff.

Had to park way down the street this year. I was near a stop sign so figured no one would park in front of me, but of course somebody did. See the picture with the new HHR in front of me, which is Chevy's total rip-off of a PT Cruiser.

I agree Dave, there were more people there this year than in the past two years; I'm not sure why though. There were some nice cars on display (two C6 Z06's)and the new buildings were nice. There were more High Performance and less Corvette items for sale. I didn't see one C3 radio (which is what I really wanted) and I got there one hour after the gates opened.

Seems to me that eBay has realy cut into the swap meet inventory. I did score a nice box of windshield and T-Top parts for $20.00, they were worth three times that much.

Richard, This swap meet has been going on...

... for over 20 years, for sure. Located in the State of Washington, now in the town of Puyallup, kind'a between Olympia and Seattle. It ain't no Carlisle, but is a fun Northwest Winter fun get-away... Best, Dennis

32nd Annual according to the flyer. If it can build on this years crowd, it will be one heck of an event in the future.

I only attended it once--in 1987 (I still have photos of some of the cars) and even then, it was pretty good for finding things not commonly available except by mail order. Glad to hear it's a growing concern!

BTW, during the same visit I went to Pacific Corvette looking for a 3721S Carter AFB as the original that came with my car was mislaid by the previous owner. Without a word of a lie, Pacific sold me a perfectly usable carb for the princely sum of $15!!! The carb was located in a four foot high PILE of various carbs in a back room, the result, I was told, of Corvette owners through the years desiring a "Holley" as opposed to original equipment Carter or Rochester units. The carb was dusty, but complete and operable--it's still on the car and hasn't been rebuilt!
