New to the corvette hobby--Just purchased a 78 25th Aniversary corvette and i have a few questions. My brake lights are not working but the tail lights and headlights do. Signals do not work either. I checked the grounds and they are ok. Checked the fuses as well. Not sure what else to do, maybe someone could give me a little advice. Also the fuel and oil gauges are not working and it seem that the fuel gauge is stuck. Where are these connected/what should i do to get these going again? Thanks-Chris

Re: 1978 Corvette Electrical Questions
On the rear lamps not working, if you're SURE the ground path to them is intact, then move upsteam looking for the problem. By that I mean, pull the covering lens to gain access to the bulbs and socket and visually inspect.
It wouldn't be the first time a prior owner/mechanic installed the wrong lamp in a socket or FORCED the lamp into the socket backwards resulting in poor lamp to socket contact. Also, it's possible for the socket to be so badly corroded inside that there's faulty contact between the lamp and socket's spring loaded contact plate. Last, yes it is possible for the socket's contact tension spring to be worn/corroded the point there's insufficient contact pressure at the bottom of the socket.- Top
